The inaugural 5 Rivers Outback Festival was held in October 2010 and was a great success!

The Balranald communtiy, through the auspice of Balranald Inc, decided to make the Festival an annual event and celebration that would not only help attract  visitors to the natural wonders and treasures of Balranald and the Balranald district, but to also bring vibrancy into our community that has experienced many years of hardships and challenges.

The Festival celebrates all that is wonderful about living in a rural and outback NSW community that is surrounded by five of the most iconic river systems in NSW, and for one, it is the longest river in Australia.  These 5 Rivers are The Murray River, The Murrumbidgee River, The Lachlan River, The Wakool River and The Edward River.

The community focused Balranald Inc represents all segments of the community with a passionate team of volunteers.  They are the Event Managers of this wonderful Festival.

The Festival is a vital conduit to achieving the following objectives for the Balranald community:

To grow our local economy by attracting visitors to experience the uniqueness of the 5 Rivers region, where the wetlands meets the outback.

To build our community identity and boost the community's spirit after 10 years of drought and the loss of our Redgum industry.

To connect all sectors of our community through  involvement & participation.

Creating opportunities for  those that are disadvantaged in our community through involvement & participation.

To showcase the natural wonders of our region for sustainable tourism opportunities.

To make the 5 Rivers Outback Festival Balranald's signature event to boost Balranald's profile.
